June 2023 update of the WDPA and WD-OECM
The total number of protected area records in the June 2023 release of the World Database on Protected Areas (WDPA) is 285,415 comprising 273,179 polygons and 12,236 points and covering 244 countries and territories.
The total number of other effective area-based conservation measures (OECMs) in the June 2023 release of the WD-OECM is 828, comprising 692 polygons and 136 points and covering 9 countries and territories.

Highlights:
Lao People’s Democratic Republic: A complete update for Lao PDR. This includies the addition of Yodnammo-Phousamsoum National Protected Area and three ASEAN Heritage Parks (2 Proposed and 1 Designated).
Saudi Arabia: A data and boundary update for the protected area “Iman Turki bin Abdullah Royal Nature Reserve” in Saudi Arabia.
